Long Distance Moving
Overseas & International

Steps
International and overseas moving is typically much more complex than moving within Canada. Having successfully coordinated more than hundreds of international moves to more than 30 different countries, Bighorn Moving And Storage is well-versed in the required procedures.
Our vast industry experience has allowed us to establish connections with other reputable international moving companies in most major areas of the world. Like us, many of them are affiliated with major van lines, which enables us to recommend them with confidence.
One of our primary goals is to make international moving a stress-free experience for our clients. We achieve this by:
- Offering documentation preparation services
- Reminding clients about admissible and non-admissible goods
- Coordinating shipping times and destination services
Whether we transport your goods by air or by sea, we always ensure they’re wrapped, packed, and/or crated appropriately for the journey (we go through a ton of packing tape!).

When should I book my long distance movers in Canada to my international destination?
As international-overseas long distance moves can be complicated, it's essential to book your movers as soon as you know your moving date. Our international long-distance experts can coordinate all the details with you.
Who handles my international move?
As a member agent of United Van Lines and its international division, Bighorn Kelowna has access to a network of more than 300 international and overseas partners serving more than 160 countries.
Depending on where your final destination is, a different moving company may handle your move once it’s out of Canada.
What type of international moving services do you offer?
There are a few ways our moving company can help you transport your goods, including by:
- Sea freight via a full shipping container or part-load shared container service
- Air freight
- On the road via tractor-trailer within North America
What documentation is needed to move my belongings across the border or overseas?
You will need a valid passport and an approved work visa or immigration document. Other documents will also need to be filled out, along with a full inventory list of what you will be packing and transporting. Our international moving experts can help you prepare all the necessary paperwork needed to make a cross-border or international move. What packing services does your moving company in Kelowna provide for international moves?
Whether moving by air, land or sea, our long-distance packers and movers will ensure that your goods are adequately protected. We use top-of-the-line packing materials and pads and also offer wood crating services (with approved wood products) for fragile items such as art, antiques, and glassware.
What items, in general, will I not be able to take with me on my international move?
It depends on the country. Your Bighorn Kelowna moving expert can provide a list of restricted items. Some countries are known for restricting goods such as:
- Produce and dairy
- Plants and soil
- Wood products
- Flammable and combustible items
- Weapons such as swords
Are you able to move specialty items such as a pool table or motorcycle overseas?
Yes. We can arrange third-party services to prepare and disassemble your specialty items for your move, and have them reassembled at your destination.
Is there a way to store my belonging before shipping them to my international destination?
Yes. Bighorn Kelowna offers both short-term and long-term storage services, where we will pick up and load your belongings to take to our climate-controlled warehouse.
