Moving Checklist: Essentials to Have in Your New Home

Deck out your new home or apartment with these moving checklist essentials.
One of the best things about moving into your first house, apartment, or condo is shopping for everything you’ll need. 1. Furniture and furnishings
While you may have a hand-me-down couch that you plan to move to your new place, consider these other furniture pieces and furnishings:
- Futon/ and or pull-out couch
- Dining room and/or kitchen table
- Chairs
- TV
- Side tables
- Lighting fixtures and lamps
- Bookcases/shelving units
- Computer desk
- China cabinet
- Floor rugs, mats
- Paintings, artwork, photo frames
- House plants, planters, vase
2. Appliances
Most homes and condos come with large appliances such as a fridge, dishwasher, oven, and washer/dryer. However, there may be cases where essential appliances are not part of the package. Make sure to include all major appliances and extras such as a:
- Microwave, toaster or convection oven
- Chest freezer
- Coffeemaker
- Toaster
- Kettle

- Iron, ironing board
- Portable air conditioner and/or fans (if needed)
3. Other Kitchen Essentials
Along with appliances, equip your kitchen with these essential utensils and tools:

4. For the Bathroom
Besides toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo don’t forget to include:
- Bath and hand towels
- Washcloths
- Shower curtain
- Bathmat
- Toothbrush holder
- Soap dispenser
5. Bedroom Basics
Make sure your bedroom is fully stocked by including these items for your household movers:
- Bed, headboard, side tables
- Reading lights
- Duvet, linens, blankets

- Chest of drawers
- Standing closet if lacking closet space
6. Cleaning Supplies
Keep your new space looking its best by packing:
- Vacuum
