Long Distance Moving: Planning Your Route

Sometimes, the fastest route isn’t always the best option, especially if you’ve hired movers in Kelowna to do all the heavy lifting for your long distance move. While they’re busy transporting your goods to your new home, you’ll have the freedom to explore.
No matter which direction you head from the Okanagan, there are plenty of excellent destinations worth visiting along the way. From national parks to big cities to uniquely Canadian attractions, we’ve compiled some of the top places to make a pit stop.
Northern Exposure
Let’s say you’re moving to a city in northern BC, such as Prince George or Fort St. John. At a minimum, you’re looking at an eight-hour drive. To break up the journey, you could swing by Williams Lake and visit:

Over the Rockies
There are two primary routes into Alberta—and the rest of Western Canada—that moving companies in Kelowna typically use for long distance moving. The first is Highway 5 that leads up to the northern part of the province. The second is the Trans Canada Highway, which takes you right through Calgary.

Crossing the Border

If you’re looking to blow off some steam after all that packing and planning, head over to Silverwood Theme Park, near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for a fun-filled family getaway. Or, catch the Mariners in MLB action at Safeco Field, sip a Starbucks or wander along Pike Place Market in Seattle.
Coming to the Coast
Driving west towards the Lower Mainland typically calls for a trip over the Coquihalla. Once you reach the other side of the summit, you could:
- Take a relaxing soak at Harrison Hot Springs
- Explore Fort Langley, a former fur trade post of the Hudson’s Bay Company
- Stroll the Seawall in Stanley Park
